Landsknecht Gorget

To speak with authority is one thing — to protect that voice in steel is another. The Landsknecht Gorget is a masterfully crafted piece of throat and collar armour, designed not only to defend the vulnerable neck and upper chest, but to frame the poise of a commander. Worn alone or as part of a full harness, it is the kind of piece that turns a soldier into a symbol.

Inspired by the bold silhouettes of 16th-century mercenary captains, the gorget features a clean bevor-style front plate that covers the clavicle and upper sternum with geometric clarity. At the neck, three articulated lames curve upward in a protective collar, moving smoothly with the head while guarding the throat from glancing blows and sudden strikes.

But the true strength of this design lies in its balance. A steel plate at the upper back mirrors the front and serves a dual purpose: providing additional protection to the spine and shoulders, and crucially, balancing the weight of the gorget from front to back. This thoughtful construction helps the piece rest securely around the neck and collar, preventing shifting during movement — no tugging, twisting, or constant adjustment as you stride into your scene or skirmish.

Crafted from durable 1 mm steel, the Landsknecht Gorget is secured using leather straps and steel buckles that adjust for a snug, comfortable fit. It sits perfectly over a gambeson or arming doublet and is fully compatible with Epic Armoury’s shoulder plates, spaulders, and full cuirass sets — including, of course, the rest of the Landsknecht line.

• Polished Steel, bright and commanding — ideal for characters of noble rank, fresh commission, or parade-ground pride.

• Epic Dark, with a shadowed, burnished tone — suited for veterans, schemers, and those who rule from behind the lines.
