Archery

LARP archery gear is real archery equipment engineered so it can be shot at people: bows with draw weights between 18 and 29 lbs at 28 inches, arrows with large foam heads on reinforced shafts, and the quivers, bracers, and spares that keep an archer shooting all weekend. Epic Armoury's range covers bows from an 88 cm short bow to a 182 cm longbow, arrows and crossbow bolts from IDV Engineering, nine quiver styles, and every replacement part you'll need. Pick a bow, match it with arrows, and you're an archer.

Shop by Category

  • Bows: Longbows, flatbows, horsebows, and short bows in wood and composite construction.
  • Arrows: IDV round head and flat head arrows, plus crossbow bolts in 10 and 15 inch.
  • Quivers: Back, hip, and cross-body carry in leather, suede, and canvas.
  • Bow accessories: Bracers, gloves, bowstrings, nocks, fletching, and a target stand.

Choosing Your Bow

Three things decide it: length, draw weight, and shape.
Length should suit your body and draw. Short bows from 88 to 120 cm are quick to handle and stay out of the way in dense terrain and tight formations. Flatbows around 141 to 156 cm sit in the middle. The 182 cm longbow is the full traditional stave, tall, smooth to draw, and unmistakable in silhouette.

Draw weight is what your event cares about. Ours run 18 to 29 lbs at 28 inches, comfortably under the caps most LARP rulesets set, and light enough to shoot repeatedly through a long battle without your arms failing you. Check your event's limit before you buy, since it's the one spec that can disqualify a bow at weapon check.

Shape is character. Horsebows at 112 to 145 cm carry the recurved profile of the steppe traditions and are compact enough to use on the move. Longbows and flatbows read medieval European. There's also a youth bow for younger archers, and Osage orange wood construction alongside the composite builds if you want a natural stave.

Arrows

Every arrow here is made by IDV Engineering, the arrow standard across the European LARP scene, and the reason is repeatability: reinforced shafts that fly straight shot after shot, large safety heads that spread impact, and fletching that survives being trodden on, retrieved from undergrowth, and shot again. Round heads and flat heads are both available on black, white, brown, and sleeved shafts, in a wide colour range so you can identify your own arrows after a battle, including a fluorescent option for finding them in long grass.

Buy more than you think you need. Arrows are consumables at events, and the archer who runs dry in the second hour spends the rest of the battle searching the field.

Quivers

How you carry changes how you shoot. Back quivers give the tallest, most dramatic silhouette. Hip quivers put arrows where your hand naturally falls, which is faster under pressure. Cross-body designs let you set the angle yourself and hold it steady while you run. The range covers all three across leather, suede, and canvas construction, in black, brown, green, blue, gray, red, and beige, so the quiver matches the rest of your kit rather than fighting it.

Bracers, Gloves, and Spares

The bowstring will find your forearm eventually, and it hurts. An archery bracer stops string bite and looks correct doing it, while half-gloves and hand protection guard your drawing fingers through a full day of shooting. Beyond protection, keep spares: bowstrings, nocks, fletching, and string nock markers cost little and turn a broken bow into a five-minute repair instead of a wasted event. A target stand rounds it out for practice between events.

Why LARP Bows Are Safe

A war longbow of the medieval period drew somewhere between 100 and 160 lbs, enough to drive an arrow through mail. That's the reason surviving English archers show visible skeletal deformation. A LARP bow draws 18 to 29 lbs, roughly a fifth of that, and pairs it with a foam head instead of a steel point. You get the same draw, release, and arc, and the arrow lands as a hit rather than an injury. That gap between historical power and modern safety is the whole design brief of every bow on this page.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What draw weight do I need for LARP?
Ours run 18 to 29 lbs at 28 inches, which suits most rulesets. Always confirm your event's maximum before buying, since limits vary.

  • Can I use my own arrows with these bows?
Use LARP-safe arrows only, never sporting arrows with hard tips. IDV arrows are built for the draw weights of these bows.

  • What should I buy first?
A bow, six or more arrows, and a quiver. Add a bracer immediately after, or your forearm will make the argument for you.

  • How many arrows do I need for an event?
More than six. Arrows get lost, stepped on, and shot back by the other side, so most archers carry a dozen or more.

  • Can I replace a broken bowstring or fletching?
Yes. Bowstrings, nocks, and fletching are all stocked as spares, so a damaged bow or arrow is a repair rather than a replacement.

Nock, Draw, Loose

Choose your bow, stock your quiver deep, and protect your forearm. Browse bows, arrows, quivers, and accessories, and put yourself on the firing line at the next event.
